Introductions for Authors

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

Manuscripts may take the form of original articles, reviews of significant prior work, or case studies in the fields of seismology and earthquake engineering. Manuscripts must be electronically submitted to http://www.eesk-j.or.kr. At least one author should be a member of the Earthquake Engineering Society of Korea. The Journal of the Earthquake Engineering Society of Korea strictly follows international standards for editors and authors (http://publicationethics.org/). In the event that there are documented violations of the policies, the publisher reserves the right to impose penalties such as immediate rejection of the infringing manuscript, prohibition of new submissions, prohibition or revocation of the author’s membership, etc.


MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

The manuscripts should be in Korean or English. The maximum length of the research paper is 14 journal pages, including figures and tables. Manuscripts exceeding 14 pages must be given special permission from the editor. The manuscripts should include; (1) a title that reflects the contents of the paper, (2) all the name(s) and affiliation(s) of the author(s), (3) the name and e-mail address of the corresponding author, (4) an abstract of 150-200 words, and (5) 3-6 key words. English should be used to write (1-5). Korean can be used supplementary in writing (1-3). The paper should be concluded with the proper conclusions that reflect the findings in the paper. Authors are advised to check more details in the Appendix of Instructions for Authors (http://www.eesk-j.or.kr/).
Units: System International (SI) units are mandatory as primary measurement units.

Tables and figures: Tables and figures should be consecutively numbered and headed with short titles written in English. The text should refer to them as Fig. 1, Table 2, etc. Originally drawn figures and glossy prints of photographs should be provided in a form suitable for photographic reproduction and reduction in the journal.

Equations: Equations should start on a separate line and must be identified with consecutive numbers in parentheses. The equations should be referred to in the text as Eq. (I), Eq. (2), etc.

References: The text should include a list of references that reflect the current state of technology. The references should be written in English and be prepared in accordance with the guidelines in the Appendix of Instructions for Authors (http://www.eesk-j.or.kr/). Reference format examples are given below:

REVIEW

All submitted papers will undergo a peer-review process, and those positively recommended by at least two expert reviewers will be finally accepted for publication in the Journal of the Earthquake Engineering Society of Korea, after any required modifications are made. Both the authors and reviewers keep their anonymity.


PROOFS

Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author to correct any typesetting errors. Alterations to the original manuscript at this stage will not be accepted. Proofs should be returned within one week of receipt. A publication charge of KRW 100,000 should be paid by the author(s) to the publisher.


COLOR PRINTING

All papers are printed in black and white and reproduced in color on the web at no charge to the author. However, an author can request color printing of figures at their own expense. Interested authors should contact the journal office.
